TL;DR
Employment Specialist (Workforce Development): Supporting refugees and immigrants through employment preparation, job placement, vocational training, and career advancement with an accent on individualized coaching, employer engagement, and client self-sufficiency. Focus on building employment plans, coordinating interviews and training, tracking job outcomes, and solving post-placement needs across a local service delivery area.

Location: Denver, CO, USA; hybrid work combining office, remote, and field time within the service delivery area.

Pay rate: $24 per hour

What you will do

  • Assess client employability and create employment, career development, and budget plans.
  • Provide one-on-one and group coaching on resumes, job searches, interviews, networking, and work readiness.
  • Connect clients with vocational training, certifications, apprenticeships, work experience, employers, and staffing agencies.
  • Accompany clients to interviews, job preparation activities, and job site tours while building their independence.
  • Support employers and clients after placement, monitor job performance and wages, and address continuing employment needs.
  • Document client interactions, maintain databases, track outcomes, and collaborate with service providers, volunteers, and interns.

Requirements

  • Relevant professional experience in workforce development required; at least 2 years is strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field preferred.
  • Fluent spoken and written English required.
  • Strong relationship-building, diplomacy, networking, communication, problem-solving, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, internet research, and digital data-entry tools.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a personal, insured vehicle required.

Nice to have

  • Experience working with refugee or immigrant populations.
  • Experience with job placement and job readiness training.
  • Proficiency in languages spoken by IRC clients.
