TL;DR
Senior Data Visualization Engineer (Geospatial): Creating visualizations that communicate the applications and value of satellite imagery and derived geospatial data with an accent on remote sensing analysis, cartography, and visual communication. Focus on combining imagery with complementary datasets, accurately representing complex data in marketing content, and delivering visual materials for external audiences under tight deadlines.

Location: San Francisco, CA; hybrid work with three days per week in the San Francisco office

Salary: $114,200–$142,700 USD annual base salary

hirify.global designs, builds, and operates a large constellation of imaging satellites and provides cloud-based access to satellite imagery and derived data products.

What you will do

  • Find and communicate stories that demonstrate novel applications of satellite imagery and hirify.globalary Variables.
  • Combine hirify.global imagery with complementary datasets to create visualizations for external distribution.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Communications to develop graphics that explain how hirify.global data addresses customer needs.
  • Provide technical input on animations, videos, datasheets, and presentation decks, ensuring accurate data representation.
  • Prepare and share imagery with press, think tanks, and analysts under tight deadlines.
  • Promote data visualization best practices across the organization.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in relevant technical roles, preferably with geospatial or remote sensing data.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Advanced knowledge of remote sensing data use cases and cartographic and data visualization best practices.
  • Deep expertise manipulating vector and raster data with geospatial software and libraries such as QGIS, ArcGIS, GDAL, Avenza Geographic Imager, or Avenza MAPublisher.
  • Ability to use Python for geospatial analysis and API interaction, plus extensive experience with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Ability to collaborate across functions, explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, prioritize workloads, and meet tight deadlines.

Nice to have

  • Experience in the space or Earth observation industry.
  • Knowledge of JavaScript, React, D3, NextJS, Svelte, or other modern frontend and backend technologies.
  • Experience with hyperspectral data, web mapping, interactive web storytelling, video, or animation.
