Specialist — Maintenance (Open Pit Workshop) (Mining Machinery and Fabrication): Owning and optimising engineering repairs and projects for mobile equipment at the Macraes Open Pit Workshop with an accent on heavy mining machinery refurbishment, wear-package management, and repair planning. Focus on supervising engineering personnel and contractors, designing repair scopes, monitoring equipment wear, and coordinating actionable maintenance work orders.
Location: Macraes mine, East Otago, New Zealand. Onsite role with a Monday–Friday 9-day fortnight roster: 5 days on, 2 days off, 4 days on, 3 days off, from 7:00am to 4:30pm. An unrestricted New Zealand Working Visa is required.

What you will do
- Own and optimise engineering repairs, refurbishments, and projects for mobile mining equipment.
- Supervise engineering personnel, OGL boilermakers, and contractors while maintaining safety and work quality.
- Prepare repair scopes, engineer’s reports, maintenance checks, and actionable work orders.
- Monitor wear rates and ground-engaging tooling on excavator buckets, dump truck trays, blades, and other equipment.
- Carry out welding repairs and light fabrication on mining machinery, plant, and workshop equipment.
- Coordinate with planners and contractors through planning meetings and the AMF AM10 workflow.
Requirements
- National Certificate in Engineering — Fabrication Level 4 or a similar qualification.
- At least 5 years of experience in an open pit mining environment.
- Experience repairing and maintaining heavy mining machinery, including excavator buckets, dump truck trays, blades, and ground-engaging tools.
- Experience coaching personnel or contractors performing engineering work.
- General fabrication and design skills, strong computer literacy, and experience with CMMS for work orders and materials requisitioning.
- Full, clean, current driver licence and confidence driving a manual vehicle over rough terrain.
Nice to have
- Certificates in first aid, forklift operations, overhead crane operation, rigging and slinging, or working at height under relevant New Zealand standards.
