TL;DR
Nuclear Safety Basis Lead (Nuclear Fuel Enrichment): Owning and maintaining the integrated safety basis for a first-of-its-kind uranium enrichment facility with an accent on ISA development, management measures, license commitments, and regulatory alignment. Focus on evaluating design and operational changes, coordinating criticality, consequence, fire, engineering, and operations teams, and interfacing with the NRC on licensing matters.

Salary: $80,000–$170,000 annually

hirify.global is developing uranium enrichment services in the United States to support nuclear fuel production and advanced energy infrastructure.

What you will do

  • Own and maintain the facility’s integrated safety basis, including the ISA, management measures, and license commitments.
  • Keep the authorization basis current and internally consistent as the facility is designed, built, and operated.
  • Lead safety basis reviews for proposed design, process, and operational changes.
  • Ensure consistency between the license application, ISA Summary, and supporting analyses.
  • Coordinate ISA, criticality, consequence, fire, design, and operations teams.
  • Interface with the NRC on license amendments, commitments, and safety basis matters while mentoring supporting staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals, trade studies, analytical problem-solving, and technical recommendations.
  • Strong knowledge of nuclear safety basis or authorization basis concepts and 10 CFR Part 70, 10 CFR 830, or a comparable regulatory framework.
  • Experience developing, maintaining, or evaluating safety bases and leading technical teams, projects, or programs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse technical teams.
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.

Nice to have

  • Experience with nuclear fuel cycle facility licensing or DOE DSA, TSR, and USQ work.
  • Experience interfacing with the NRC or DOE.
  • Advanced degree or Professional Engineer license, or the ability to obtain one.
  • Experience in fast-paced, highly technical, or entrepreneurial engineering environments.
  • Evidence of exceptional ability through prior projects, portfolios, or completed products.
