Mechanical Engineer I (Aerospace)

Location: Austin, TX, United States; on-site. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, conditional residents, asylees, refugees, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations under space technology export regulations.

What you will do

• Support mechanical designs for aerospace and satellite products throughout the development lifecycle.
• Contribute to electronics packaging, spacecraft mechanical interfaces, CAD, simulations, and engineering analyses.
• Develop mechanical designs from concept and requirements definition through detailed design, manufacturing, testing, and qualification.
• Support environmental qualification and in-orbit activities for electronic assemblies and aerospace hardware.
• Prepare and present engineering design review materials.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree and at least one year of industry experience in design and analysis.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, analytical methods, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.
• Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, or AutoCAD.
• Understanding of DFM/DFMA, GD&T, drafting standards, and engineering documentation.
• Experience with engineering analysis tools such as ANSYS, MATLAB, or similar, and with CNC manufacturing.
• Eligibility to work under U.S. space technology export regulations is required.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with electronics assemblies and collaboration with electrical engineers.
• Aerospace internships or other aerospace experience.
• Experience with electronics packaging, thermal, vibration, stress dynamics, spacecraft structures, or mechanisms.
• Exposure to EMI/EMC mitigation techniques.
