Technical Staff Engineer-Firmware (PCIe)

Location: Burnaby, Canada; travel expected up to 25%.

Annual base salary: $107,000–$226,000, plus restricted stock units and quarterly bonuses.

What you will do

• Design, develop, integrate, debug, verify, and validate firmware, drivers, software components, unit-test frameworks, verification systems, and DevOps tools.
• Contribute to Switchtec System-on-Chip PCI Express switching products across design, testing, and validation activities.
• Lead and participate in architecture, specification, design, and implementation reviews.
• Collaborate with chip design, emulation, validation, application engineering, and firmware teams during pre-silicon development and post-silicon bring-up.
• Investigate and resolve issues found internally or reported by customers in laboratory and field environments.
• Maintain technical documentation and mentor junior firmware engineers through reviews and continuous-improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
• At least 15 years of embedded application software or high-level embedded software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in C and at least one assembly language.
• Expertise in SoC, RTOS, multithreading, and SMP firmware development.
• Experience developing products using one or more high-speed protocols, such as PCIe, CXL, InfiniBand, SAS/SATA, NVMe, Ethernet, or FC.
• Experience with firmware for silicon products, cross-functional development, technical documentation, research, analysis, and problem solving.
