Staff Embedded Engineer (IoT)

Location: Toronto, Canada

Salary: $147,700–$180,000 CAD per year, plus eligibility for variable compensation and short- and long-term incentives.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and optimize embedded software for HVAC IoT products.
• Build software for platforms ranging from battery-operated microcontrollers to multicore embedded Linux systems.
• Develop low-level hardware interactions, on-device applications, network protocols, control algorithms, and graphical user interfaces.
• Conduct performance analysis and improve system performance, reliability, and testability.
• Develop test fixtures used to validate manufactured devices.
• Collaborate with QA, Product Management, Manufacturing, Hardware, other development teams, and third-party technology providers on product integrations.

Requirements

• Professional experience developing embedded software applications.
• Proficiency in C++ and object-oriented design, data structures, and design patterns.
• Knowledge of embedded Linux systems, ARM-based processors, and development tools.
• Experience with multithreaded design and coding practices.
• Knowledge of GUI development, HVAC systems, home automation, control systems, or the Internet of Things.
• Successful completion of a background check is required.

Nice to have

• Experience building Wi-Fi IoT products.
• Knowledge of HVAC systems and related control technologies.
