QNX Embedded Development Manager (Open Source)

Location: Ottawa, Ontario; 50/50 hybrid role

Base salary: $108,750.00–$152,250.00 per year

What you will do

• Port and optimize open-source projects for the QNX RTOS, ensuring performance, reliability, and real-time behavior.
• Design integration layers, build systems, and CI/CD workflows for open-source components.
• Integrate open-source software with QNX graphics, networking, USB, audio, and sensor subsystems.
• Upstream QNX-relevant changes and collaborate directly with open-source communities.
• Lead and mentor open-source engineers, provide technical direction, and foster growth and accountability.
• Drive project roadmaps, define best practices, document processes, and champion open-source adoption within QNX.

Requirements

• Significant progressive embedded software experience, including technical leadership or mentorship.
• Strong C/C++ skills for embedded systems development and hands-on RTOS development using QNX, Linux, or similar systems.
• Deep understanding of embedded systems, hardware architectures, and cross-compilation toolchains.
• Experience in device driver development.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and manage a team of software engineers.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, plus curiosity, enthusiasm, and interest in new technologies.

Nice to have

• Linux or Android internals experience.
• Proficiency with Git, GDB, GCC, and Make/CMake.
• Proven contributions to large open-source projects.
• Familiarity with open-source licensing models and community-engagement best practices.
• Strong GCC/GDB knowledge.
• Experience with Agentic AI.
