QNX Embedded Development Manager (Open Source)

Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; 50/50 hybrid role

Salary: CAD 108,750–152,250 per year

What you will do

• Port and optimize open-source projects for the QNX RTOS, ensuring performance, reliability, and real-time behavior.
• Design integration layers, build systems, and CI/CD workflows for open-source components.
• Integrate open-source software with QNX graphics, networking, USB, audio, and sensor subsystems.
• Upstream QNX-relevant changes and collaborate with open-source communities.
• Lead and mentor open-source engineers, providing technical direction and supporting professional growth.
• Drive project roadmaps, define engineering practices, document processes, and promote open-source adoption.

Requirements

• Significant progressive embedded software experience, including technical leadership and mentorship.
• Strong C/C++ skills for embedded systems and hands-on RTOS development with QNX, Linux, or a similar platform.
• Deep understanding of embedded systems, hardware architectures, and cross-compilation toolchains.
• Experience developing device drivers.
• Strong communication, leadership, team management, and mentoring abilities.

Nice to have

• Linux or Android internals experience.
• Proficiency with Git, GDB, GCC, and Make/CMake.
• Contributions to large open-source projects and familiarity with open-source licensing and community engagement.
• Experience with Agentic AI.
