PLC Engineer (Siemens)

Location: On-site in San Diego, California, United States; a flexible workplace arrangement may be available for up to two remote days per week.

Salary: $109,200–$150,150 base annual salary.

What you will do

• Design software and firmware for Siemens PLC systems supporting EUV lithography platforms.
• Define system specifications and translate requirements into reliable industrial control solutions.
• Select and evaluate hardware architectures and components for complex, high-precision systems.
• Develop and maintain PLC test benches and simulation environments, including validation before deployment.
• Support system integration, troubleshooting, validation, and qualification activities.
• Collaborate with system architects, software and electrical engineers, suppliers, and engineering leadership while driving continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
• At least 5 years of experience designing PLC-based industrial automation and control systems.
• Experience programming Siemens PLCs with TIA Portal, PLCSIM, HMI, and related Siemens tools.
• Experience with Siemens SIMIT, PLC validation methodologies, PLC test benches, digital twins, design validation, and qualification activities.
• Proficiency with LAD, SCL, FBD, and STL, plus experience with PID control loops, serial communications, and industrial control architectures.
• Must be able to work on-site in San Diego and in a clean room environment while wearing required protective clothing and equipment.

Nice to have

• Experience with auto-generated PLC code from Simulink models and broader system-level concepts.
