Software Engineer I (AI/ML)

Location: Hybrid work required, with 3 days per week in the Holtsville, New York office. Travel requirements are up to 15%.

Salary: $68,400–$102,600 annual, plus a target performance-based cash incentive equal to 5% of base pay.

What you will do

• Complete software engineering projects across coding, debugging, testing, and deployment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, participate in code reviews, and deliver software solutions.
• Integrate and optimize firmware, on-device software, and target hardware using performance analysis.
• Build automated scripts, data analysis workflows, and tools for detecting system anomalies and accelerating root-cause analysis.
• Explore and adopt AI-assisted development tools and machine learning methodologies for engineering and data analysis.
• Maintain source code comments, design specifications, test results, and other project documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Relevant academic, internship, or industry experience in software development or a related field.
• Hands-on programming experience with C, C++, Python, or Java.
• Experience applying AI/ML concepts or tools to practical problems.
• Experience or familiarity with data analysis and machine learning libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or OpenCV.
• Strong quantitative, analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Successful completion of a hirify.global internship.
• Exposure to low-level systems, embedded platforms, firmware, or hardware-software interfaces.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum, Git, and automated CI/CD practices.
