Automotive Technician (A Tech) (Automotive Repair)

Location: Onsite automotive service location in the United States

Pay: $24.10–$41.95 per hour through a performance-based flat-rate compensation model. First-time hires may receive a $2,000 sign-on bonus.

What you will do

• Diagnose and repair brake, hydraulic, exhaust, fuel, ignition, electrical, suspension, alignment, air conditioning, and computer systems.
• Explain technical diagnoses and recommended repairs to customers without mechanical backgrounds.
• Assist with training and mentoring technicians and mechanics.
• Stay current with automotive technology through paid formal training.
• Obtain or maintain ASE certifications in at least five A1–A8 areas within the first two years.

Requirements

• Valid automobile driver's license required; must be able to drive customer and company vehicles.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing brakes, alignment, steering, suspension, general automotive systems, and tires.
• Current federal, state, and local certifications or licenses where applicable.
• Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical people, along with reading, writing, and math skills.
• Must complete Form I-9 employment eligibility verification; temporary work authorization or the need for sponsorship may disqualify employment.

Nice to have

• Understanding of electrical and electronic systems, engine repair and performance, automatic or manual transmissions, and automotive heating and air conditioning.
• Five years of automotive repair experience, demonstrated skills through third-party assessments or certifications, or completion of a vocational-technical program.
• ASE certification in at least three A1–A8 areas, with brakes and steering and suspension certifications preferred.
