TL;DR
Senior Director, Corporate Development (Mergers & Acquisitions): Leading enterprise inorganic growth through mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, reinsurance transactions, and strategic partnerships with an accent on valuation, financial analysis, capital allocation, and regulatory risk. Focus on originating and executing complex transactions, advising executives and Boards, and guiding integration, separation, and value-capture planning.

Location: Hybrid; three days per week in office at a hub location in Cedar Rapids, Denver, or Philadelphia, United States.

Salary: $180,000–$250,000 annually, plus potential eligibility for an annual bonus.

What you will do

  • Lead the enterprise inorganic growth strategy across M&A, divestitures, reinsurance transactions, strategic investments, and partnerships.
  • Develop the opportunity pipeline by creating investment theses, assessing markets, and building strategic relationships.
  • Evaluate strategic fit, financial impact, capital implications, regulatory considerations, risks, and value-capture opportunities.
  • Lead complex transactions from evaluation and approval through negotiation, execution, and transition planning.
  • Advise senior leadership, governance committees, and Boards with executive-ready recommendations.
  • Build Corporate Development team capabilities, standards, industry insight, and execution discipline.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field.
  • At least 12 years of experience in transaction execution, corporate development, M&A, strategic finance, or related leadership roles.
  • Experience leading complex transactions from evaluation through execution and transition planning.
  • Strong financial analysis, valuation, accounting, analytical, business judgment, project management, and execution skills.
  • Experience influencing executives, governance committees, and senior cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the United States without immigration sponsorship or employer-of-record immigration support.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in business administration or another advanced degree.
  • Experience in life insurance, annuities, retirement, distribution, or financial services.
  • Knowledge of insurance transactions, reinsurance structures, regulatory requirements, statutory accounting, and risk-based capital considerations.
  • CPA or CFA certification, and experience preparing Board, executive, or investment committee materials.
