Senior Assembly Technician (Optical Sensors)

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA — onsite at 5900 Golden Hills Drive. Core hours are 6:00am–2:30pm.

Nordson Test & Inspection manufactures metrology equipment and inspection systems using X-ray inspection, acoustic imaging, and optical inspection technologies for electronics, aerospace, automotive, energy, lighting, and medical industries.

What you will do

• Build, align, and calibrate optical sensors and related systems using precision hand tools and optical measurement equipment.
• Support manufacturing and engineering through testing, troubleshooting, equipment adjustment, and precision optical and mechanical measurements.
• Install, align, troubleshoot, calibrate, and document product changes in coordination with hardware and software manufacturing engineering teams.
• Assemble and test products from diagrams and generate assembly and test plans.
• Participate in production meetings to resolve process, fixture, capacity, and material issues.
• Work with Production, Quality, and Customer Service to diagnose and disposition customer returns and RMAs.

Requirements

• High school diploma and at least 10 years of experience as an Assembly Technician.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, production build processes, specifications, procedures, and geometric tolerances.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across sensor and system design, fixtures, and software issues.
• Experience with ERP systems, especially SAP, and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and contribute process-change solutions for engineering or supervisor approval.

Nice to have

• Two-year associate degree with two years of Assembly Technician experience.
• Experience with optomechanical, electromechanical, and system assembly operations.
• Familiarity with new product development build and test processes.
• Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement experience.
