Material Management Lead (Medical Devices)

Location: On-site in Austin, Texas, or South San Francisco, California, United States; travel between both sites is required as needed.

Base salary: $72,000–$134,000 USD per year, plus equity compensation in the form of RSUs for full-time employees.

What you will do

• Build, lead, and develop shipping, receiving, incoming quality, and inventory teams as production scales.
• Define and manage KPIs for dock-to-stock time, scanning, inspections, dispositions, kitting SLAs, and inventory accuracy.
• Own inbound logistics, shipment visibility, transportation management, shipping terms, customs clearance, and exception handling.
• Establish packaging, labeling, barcode intake, lot creation, inventory traceability, cycle counting, FEFO, and shelf-life controls.
• Build the incoming quality program, including risk-based sampling, receiving inspection, COA verification, NCR intake, quarantine, and MRB dispositions.
• Establish production kitting and outbound clinical shipment processes, support engineering change cut-ins, and improve internal inventory and manufacturing systems.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, materials management, or production logistics, including building and leading teams.
• Experience setting KPIs, running performance cadences, and using operational data to drive accountability and improvement.
• Player-coach leadership style with willingness to work directly on the dock, in inspection, and in kitting operations.
• Fluency in sampling plans, MRB, NCR dispositions, and lot traceability in a regulated or high-rigor environment such as GMP, ISO 13485, aerospace, or automotive.
• Experience designing scalable SOPs, SLAs, training programs, and supporting metrics.
• Experience driving frontline adoption of WMS, MES, ERP, or equivalent inventory and warehouse systems.

• Experience scaling operations through a production ramp.
• Medical device, implantable, or GMP manufacturing experience.
• Military logistics or operations leadership experience.
• International shipping and customs, shelf-life, or cold-chain material experience.
• Ownership of incoming inspection or supplier quality programs.
