Resident Product Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Onsite in San Luis Potosi or Toluca, Mexico; full-time presence at a specific manufacturing location is required. Domestic travel of up to 5% may be required, with total travel stated as under 25%.

What you will do

• Represent Design and Product Engineering at engine, transmission, RESS, or drive unit manufacturing locations.
• Coordinate product and process issue resolution between Product Engineering, product teams, and plant personnel.
• Lead root-cause investigations for component, subsystem, assembly, warranty, and material scrap issues.
• Support new design introductions, engineering changes, plant readiness reviews, and production change management.
• Support pilot, preproduction, prototype, and build-program activities.
• Communicate product requirements, system issues, and best practices while supporting plant BIQ and continuous quality improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial, manufacturing, aeronautical engineering, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of transmission design, release, validation, and quality experience.
• Advanced English proficiency is required.
• Comprehensive knowledge of product engineering processes and tools, including Engineering Change Management, GPDP, PRTS-JIRA, DFMEA/PFMEA, QDAP, P-release, PPAP, and TWOs.
• Understanding of design, development, and validation for engine, transmission, RESS, or drive unit systems, including energy conversion system principles.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical problem-solving, teamwork, and travel readiness skills.

Nice to have

• Multiple DRE assignments across different PMTs.
• Cross-functional experience in calibration, validation, or analysis.
• Manufacturing experience in casting, machining, and assembly.
• Red X or DFSS certification.
