IT Automation Engineer - Business Technology (Central/Mountain Time - US)

Location: Remote within the United States Central or Mountain time zones, with working hours aligned to those zones; occasional travel to hirify.global offices is required.

Salary: $75,000–$115,000 base pay per year, plus a discretionary bonus of 10% of annual base salary.

What you will do

• Design, build, maintain, and monitor automation scripts and workflows for IT service delivery, endpoint provisioning, systems administration, and user and identity lifecycle management.
• Integrate platforms including Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, Jamf, Active Directory, and Tanium through APIs, webhooks, triggers, and conditional logic.
• Administer and support Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Windows, and macOS environments.
• Instrument automations with logging and alerting, track reliability and business impact, and maintain runbooks, troubleshooting guides, and the automation knowledge base.
• Collaborate with Service Desk, Infrastructure Engineering, Information Security, and partner teams to identify automation opportunities and deploy reliable solutions.
• Handle escalations, participate in an on-call rotation, and use AI tools to accelerate scripting, troubleshooting, documentation, and workflow optimization while validating outputs before production use.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in IT systems administration, service desk operations, or a related technical role, including hands-on scripting and automation experience.
• Experience with PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar scripting technologies, and with adapting or troubleshooting existing scripts and workflows.
• Hands-on experience supporting enterprise identity, collaboration, productivity, endpoint, or device-management platforms.
• Demonstrated use of AI tools and AI coding tools such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Claude, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot to build or automate working solutions.
• Must be located in the United States Central or Mountain time zone and work hours aligned to that time zone.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, remote-work experience, availability for occasional travel, and participation in an on-call rotation.

Nice to have

• 3+ years of experience in IT automation, systems engineering, or a DevOps-adjacent role.
• Experience with ServiceNow, Microsoft Intune, Jira, Zapier, Make, n8n, Workato, REST APIs, webhooks, or endpoint protection platforms.
• Relevant Microsoft, Linux, server, scripting, or automation certifications.
• Personal projects, repositories, or hackathon work demonstrating scripting or automation ability.
