Staff Security Engineer (Cloud Security)

Location: Mountain View, California, United States

Base pay: $207,000–$280,000 annually, with potential bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead strategic initiatives to mitigate and remediate security risk across the organization.
• Implement and instrument security controls and tooling across cloud infrastructure.
• Secure cloud-native environments using containerized workloads, serverless architecture, and automated CI/CD pipelines.
• Build security tooling and automate repetitive operational tasks through scripting and coding.
• Deploy security baseline controls with Terraform, conduct code reviews, and recommend security improvements.
• Lead applied cryptography initiatives covering PKI, key lifecycle management, and secrets or vault management in distributed, multi-tenant environments.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in security engineering, including building, operating, and architecting security solutions.
• Strong knowledge of computer engineering, infrastructure security, platform security, IAM, cloud, containers, networking, application reliability, and database architecture.
• Experience with network architecture, web application security, and multi-tier web application environments.
• Experience operating infrastructure at scale and Tier 0 production systems with customer and revenue impact.
• Professional knowledge of Golang, Java, or another higher-level object-oriented language.
• Professional experience with Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, and CI/CD toolsets, plus familiarity with SRE and DevSecOps methodologies.

Nice to have

• Experience working in hybrid environments and with public cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure.
• Expertise in two or three security domains, including applied cryptography, IAM, network security, vulnerability management, or detection and response engineering.
• Strong foundation in data security, encryption standards, key management, PKI, and secrets lifecycle management.
