Strategic Sourcing Lead (Data and AI)

Location: Chicago, Illinois; hybrid

Salary: $107,000–$145,000 annually if located in Illinois, plus bonus eligibility and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead strategic sourcing and category strategies for Data and AI products and services, including generative AI platforms, large language model services, enterprise data platforms, analytics solutions, and machine learning technologies.
• Define business, technical, and commercial requirements with Data and AI, IT, Security, Privacy, Legal, Accounting, Procurement, and other stakeholders.
• Lead RFPs and RFIs, conduct supplier and market analysis, and evaluate competitive alternatives and emerging suppliers.
• Analyze proposals, pricing, licensing models, contract terms, and total cost of ownership to identify savings and improve cost predictability.
• Partner with Legal, Privacy, IT Security, and subject matter experts to negotiate agreements covering data use, ownership, confidentiality, intellectual property, AI model training, retention, privacy, audit rights, and service levels.
• Manage strategic vendor relationships, supplier performance, utilization, value realization, scope changes, and commercial optimization; travel less than 10%.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, Information Technology, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of strategic sourcing, procurement, or category management experience, including complex technology, data, software, or professional services agreements.
• Experience negotiating complex, high-value technology contracts and evaluating subscription, consumption-based, data licensing, and enterprise pricing models.
• Experience developing sourcing strategies, leading competitive sourcing events, and performing financial and supplier analysis.
• Working knowledge of Data and AI technologies and enterprise supplier markets.
• Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, organizational, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
