Senior Data Engineer (Fintech)

Location: On-site in New York, NY; Philadelphia, PA; Pittsburgh, PA; or Toronto, ON. Employees are expected in the office five days a week.

Salary: $180K–$210K base salary, plus potential equity and bonus.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and operate reliable first-party and third-party data pipelines across batch, streaming, and change data capture patterns.
• Lead the technical design of ETL/ELT and orchestration workflows, balancing performance, scalability, maintainability, and cost.
• Build SQL and Python solutions for transformation, validation, automation, and complex data processing.
• Improve data quality, freshness monitoring, alerting, observability, and production support for critical pipelines.
• Optimize Snowflake workloads, storage, and pipeline architecture, and lead investigations of complex production data incidents.
• Partner with Analytics Engineering, Data Science, Product, and Engineering to define data contracts and deliver reliable data products.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience designing, building, and operating production data systems, with a bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.
• Advanced SQL skills and strong proficiency in Python or a similar programming language.
• Strong experience with Snowflake and AWS, including performance, reliability, and cost considerations.
• Deep experience with ETL/ELT, orchestration, schema design, and data modeling using dbt, Airflow, or similar tools.
• Understanding of batch and real-time architectures, including streaming and CDC technologies and their operational tradeoffs.
• Experience with data quality controls, testing, monitoring, observability, Git-based development, CI/CD, and modern software engineering practices.
