Sr Director, Legal Counsel (Fintech)

What you will do

• Advise executive leadership on strategic legal, regulatory, and business matters.
• Lead the drafting, negotiation, and oversight of complex commercial agreements and transactions.
• Develop legal strategies covering risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, litigation, and dispute resolution.
• Provide guidance on corporate governance, board matters, mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, and due diligence.
• Advise on labor and employment matters, workplace investigations, and employment agreements.
• Build and mentor high-performing legal teams while improving legal operations and crisis response.

Requirements

• Law degree, Juris Doctor, or equivalent legal qualification.
• Significant experience leading legal functions in complex, regulated organizations.
• Expertise in commercial contracting, contract negotiation, and legal risk management.
• Strong knowledge of corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and business law.
• Experience managing litigation strategy, dispute resolution, external counsel, mergers and acquisitions, and due diligence.
• Strong executive advisory, leadership, communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in financial services, fintech, payments, banking, or technology.
• Knowledge of global regulatory frameworks and cross-border transactions.
• Experience with legal operations, governance frameworks, and process improvement.
• Professional certifications or advanced training in governance, compliance, or risk management.
