Director Product Counsel (Fintech)

What you will do

• Provide strategic legal guidance across the product lifecycle in partnership with Product, Engineering, Security, Compliance, and business teams.
• Advise on legal and regulatory requirements affecting digital banking, payments, customer data, AI, and emerging technologies.
• Lead negotiation and drafting of technology, integration, partnership, customer, and data-processing agreements.
• Develop AI governance policies, standards, risk assessments, inventories, and executive and Board-level reporting.
• Maintain global privacy policies and compliance frameworks and advise on data protection obligations.
• Lead, mentor, and develop an international team of attorneys while advising executive leadership and senior stakeholders.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. State Bar.
• At least 7 years of experience as Product Counsel, Technology Counsel, Privacy Counsel, Governance Counsel, or in a related legal role.
• Experience supporting technology products, SaaS platforms, fintech solutions, or regulated financial services organizations.
• Strong contract drafting, negotiation, issue-spotting, communication, prioritization, and independent decision-making skills.
• Ability to translate complex legal and regulatory concepts into practical, business-oriented guidance for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong executive presence and experience leading or developing legal professionals.

Nice to have

• Experience in banking, fintech, payments, digital banking, or other highly regulated financial services environments.
• Knowledge of GLBA, BSA, AML, KYC, third-party risk management, U.S. privacy laws, and international data protection requirements.
• Experience designing or managing AI governance, responsible AI, privacy, cybersecurity, or technology governance programs.
• Experience with global organizations, cross-border legal matters, executive leadership teams, Boards of Directors, cloud products, or digital transformation.
