TL;DR
Senior Product Cybersecurity Engineer – Secure Product Architecture (Automotive): Owns the security design for in-vehicle communications across message authentication, in-vehicle firewalls, and automotive Ethernet with an accent on translating threat assessments into implementable security requirements. Focus on reviewing security implementations, balancing requirements against supplier capability, and protecting software-defined vehicle platforms.

Location: Hybrid in Milford, Michigan or Warren, Michigan, with attendance at the assigned location at least 3 times per week.

What you will do

  • Own and evolve security designs for in-vehicle communications, including message authentication, in-vehicle firewalls, and automotive Ethernet security.
  • Translate threat assessments and architectural decisions into clear, testable security requirements for engineering and supplier teams.
  • Align security requirements with supplier and platform capabilities and vehicle program timelines.
  • Lead security design and implementation reviews across internal engineering, validation, and supplier teams.
  • Maintain security specifications as software-defined vehicle platforms and delivery timelines change.
  • Provide subject-matter expertise and self-service references for in-vehicle communications security.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in product, embedded, or vehicle cybersecurity with hands-on ownership of security design and requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of in-vehicle communications security, message authentication, firewalls, and automotive Ethernet.
  • Understanding of secure communication, key and certificate lifecycle management, replay and freshness protection, and secure provisioning.
  • Experience translating security designs into technical requirements and specifications across the development lifecycle.
  • Experience leading security design and implementation reviews and aligning engineering, validation, and supplier stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Cybersecurity, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

  • Experience with software-defined vehicle architectures, service-based communication, and supplier-delivered ECU, firewall, and secure firmware ecosystems.
  • Experience with AUTOSAR SecOC, Freshness Value Management, SOME/IP, DoIP, TLS, CAN, CAN-FD, and UDS security services.
  • Embedded development experience with C, C++, Java, or Python.
  • Automotive industry experience and familiarity with the TARA process.
