Security Engineer (Automotive)

What you will do

• Own threat modeling and design review for vehicle systems including zonal E/E architecture, ECUs, firmware, secure boot, and vehicle communications
• Write and drive adoption of security requirements with platform engineering teams
• Document data flows and specify privacy requirements such as minimization, retention, and deletion
• Build and validate privacy enforcement mechanisms including data scrubbing and consent handling
• Design and review PKI systems for device identity, code signing, and certificate lifecycle
• Analyze product vulnerability reports and guide fixes
• Author security and privacy engineering standards and collaborate with offensive security teams
• Participate in joint technical working groups and build tooling for security review and enforcement

Requirements

• Must have 8+ years of security engineering experience in embedded, automotive, or safety-critical product security
• Hands-on experience with firmware analysis, secure boot, SoC and ECU security, automotive network protocols, key management, and OTA security
• Applied PKI experience including key hierarchy design, certificate provisioning, and revocation at scale
• Practical privacy engineering experience with data flow documentation and de-identification mechanisms
• Proven ownership of threat modeling and design review for shipping products
• Knowledge of ISO/SAE 21434 and UNECE R155/R156 standards

Nice to have

• Offensive security experience against embedded or vehicle targets
• Experience with sensor or camera data de-identification and privacy-preserving telemetry
• Working knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, and similar privacy regulations
• Threat modeling or TARA program experience at automotive OEM or tier-1
• Experience with ISO 15118 Plug and Charge, V2X credential systems, or crypto-agility
• Charging infrastructure or high-voltage systems security experience
