Sr. Cybersecurity Validation Engineer (Automotive)

Salary: $104,000–$128,000 per year (starting pay range stated for Minnesota)

What you will do

• Lead cybersecurity validation for embedded vehicle control systems and hardware-software integrations.
• Develop and maintain validation plans, test cases, test scripts, and schedules for multiple ECU projects.
• Perform functional, fuzz, penetration, automated, bench, and vehicle-level testing.
• Analyze results, identify root causes, prioritize vulnerabilities, and coordinate corrective actions with engineering teams and suppliers.
• Support DevSecOps processes, vulnerability management, audits, risk assessments, and cybersecurity design reviews.
• Produce cybersecurity work products and support compliance with automotive standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, software engineering, IT security, physics, mathematics, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in automotive or embedded systems validation.
• Experience with code analysis, vulnerability scanning, fuzz testing, penetration testing, and cybersecurity controls such as secure boot, authentication, encryption, code signing, and secure diagnostics.
• Knowledge of embedded vehicle systems and communication protocols including CAN, CAN FD, J1939, OBD-II, Ethernet, UDS, TCP/IP, TLS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, cellular, or RF.
• Understanding of ISO/SAE 21434, UN R155/R156, CRA, or similar automotive cybersecurity frameworks.
• This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Python scripting, Wireshark, CANalyzer, fuzzing tools, reverse engineering, or debugging experience.
• Advanced degree in cybersecurity.
