TL;DR
Senior Core Test Specialist (Aerospace): Planning, executing, and documenting environmental qualification and acceptance testing for avionics and RF hardware on lunar vehicle programs with an accent on thermal, vibration, shock, and EMI/EMC test campaigns. Focus on configuring data acquisition systems, coordinating test fixtures, analyzing anomalies, and verifying flight hardware against rigorous performance requirements.

Location: Greater Seattle Area, Washington, United States. Relocation is provided. Travel is expected up to 10% of the time.

Base pay range for Washington applicants: $124,476.00–$174,265.35 per year.

What you will do

  • Develop, review, and execute environmental test procedures for avionics boxes and RF assemblies.
  • Conduct thermal vacuum, thermal cycling, random and sine vibration, mechanical shock, and EMI/EMC test campaigns.
  • Configure and operate data acquisition systems, environmental test chambers, and instrumentation.
  • Analyze test data, prepare reports, and resolve anomalies with design, test, and quality engineering.
  • Design and procure test fixtures, adapters, and cabling harnesses while coordinating with machine shops and vendors.
  • Maintain test equipment calibration, facility readiness, and compliance with AS9100 and internal quality requirements.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a STEM technology program or 10+ years of aerospace test experience.
  • At least 5 years of environmental testing experience on aerospace or defense electronic hardware.
  • Familiarity with SMC-S-016 or equivalent environmental test standards.
  • Proficiency with data acquisition systems and instrumentation.
  • Experience with flight-grade electronics, RF hardware, and relevant environmental test methods is preferred.
  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, U.S. permanent residents, or lawfully admitted refugees or asylees.

Nice to have

  • B.S. in mechanical, electrical, aerospace engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience testing antennas or radios and working knowledge of MIL-STD-461 EMI/EMC methods.
  • Cleanroom and ESD-sensitive hardware experience.
  • Familiarity with Windchill, JIRA, and digital work order systems.
  • IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, or NASA workmanship standards experience.
