What you will do
- Develop, coordinate, deliver, and evaluate a statewide Extension program focused on feral hog biology, ecology, damage assessment, population management, and control.
- Deliver workshops, field days, demonstrations, webinars, seminars, conferences, and other educational events for landowners, producers, wildlife managers, agents, and natural resource professionals.
- Design and support applied research projects and result demonstrations evaluating feral hog management techniques, technologies, and strategies.
- Collect, manage, analyze, and interpret data, then translate research findings into practical recommendations and Extension programming.
- Write and update publications, fact sheets, technical reports, management guides, presentations, curricula, and digital content.
- Build partnerships with Extension personnel, researchers, landowners, agencies, universities, and other wildlife and natural resource organizations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in wildlife science, wildlife management, natural resources, range science, agricultural science, biology, ecology, or a closely related field.
- At least two years of experience in wildlife management, natural resource management, agricultural production, wildlife damage management, or a related field.
- Knowledge of wildlife biology, wildlife damage management, scientific literature, and agricultural or natural resource systems.
- Strong oral and written communication, organizational, project-management, data interpretation, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to use standard word-processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database, and online communication technologies.
- Ability to travel extensively throughout Texas, occasionally outside the state, and work occasional evenings, weekends, and extended hours for educational events and field activities.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree in wildlife science, wildlife management, natural resources, range science, agricultural science, biology, ecology, or a related field.
- Experience with feral hog biology, ecology, damage management, population control, trapping, or integrated wildlife damage management.
- Experience designing applied field research, result demonstrations, Extension publications, scientific publications, technical reports, or educational programs.
- Experience with quantitative data analysis, digital educational content, professional presentations, or collaboration with County Extension Agents.
- Remote Pilot Certificate.
