Founding Design Engineer (AI)

Salary: $180,000–$220,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Define and maintain the design token system, component library, and Tailwind conventions across the product suite.
• Build and own a production shadcn/ui-based component library that scales with the team.
• Apply WCAG accessibility standards and translate brand guidelines into code.
• Establish consistent React Query, React Hook Form, and Zod patterns for frontend development.
• Audit Biome configuration, Playwright end-to-end coverage, and frontend performance.
• Integrate AI coding tools such as Claude Code or Cursor and design conversational and streaming AI interfaces for B2B users.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building polished product interfaces, with shipped features demonstrated through a portfolio.
• Primary ownership of a production design system or component library, demonstrated through a public repository, portfolio, or detailed walkthrough.
• Deep expertise in React, strict TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, shadcn/ui, and Radix UI.
• Experience translating design intent into design tokens, component abstractions, and lint rules.
• Production experience using AI coding tools in frontend development.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience building streaming responses, generative views, or other non-standard AI interfaces.
• Experience with conversational B2B interfaces, Slack Block Kit, Microsoft Teams Adaptive Cards, or Framer Motion.
