Senior LP Models Engineer (AspenTech PIMS-AO)

Location: Houston, TX, US; 5% travel to regional sites required. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Temporary visa holders and candidates requiring current or future sponsorship are not eligible.

Salary: $185,400–$226,600 per year, plus an annual variable cash incentive program.

What you will do

• Own and support LP models serving two or more refining sites.
• Lead model structure changes, sub-model retuning, crude assay updates, and accuracy improvements.
• Conduct model reviews, site audits, backcasting, metric analysis, and improvement planning.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting and align LP models with scheduling models.
• Design and improve tools, data flows, dashboards, and reporting for model assurance and decision-making.
• Coordinate with IT teams, third parties, and software vendors on releases, testing, product improvements, and data integration.

Requirements

• Legal authorization to work in the United States is required.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
• At least 7 years of experience in refinery economics, operations, process engineering, or fuels blending and scheduling.
• At least 5 years of direct LP model experience.
• At least 5 years of experience with AspenTech PIMS-AO.
• Intermediate Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint proficiency.

Nice to have

• At least 7 years of experience in refinery planning and economics or with AspenTech PIMS-AO.
• Experience with KBC PetroSIM, HCAMS/HCOMET, PI Vision, or PI AF.
• Visual Basic and Python programming experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, downstream value-chain knowledge, and a valid driver’s license.
