Senior Staff Data Scientist (AI/ML)

Location: Lowell, Massachusetts, United States

Salary: $145,600–$209,300 per year, plus potential performance-based bonus and restricted stock unit awards.

What you will do

• Define and own the long-term data science technical strategy, roadmap, tooling investments, and methodology evolution.
• Design multi-team data science architecture and guide critical architecture decisions across the portfolio.
• Lead year-long, large-scale initiatives spanning multiple teams and product value streams.
• Set organization-wide standards for AI and ML development, evaluate emerging frameworks, and drive adoption of high-value tools.
• Develop evaluation frameworks and best practices for agentic systems and champion novel AI architectures.
• Influence business and technology roadmaps, mentor senior individual contributors, and support senior hiring and talent development.

Requirements

• PhD in a quantitative field with 5+ years of industry experience, or a master's degree with 10+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or a related discipline.
• Expert-level fluency across multiple data science areas, including generative AI, agentic AI systems, LLMs, foundation models, deep learning, forecasting, regression, classification, or NLP.
• Experience driving multi-year technical strategy across multiple teams and influencing product, engineering, and senior leadership without direct managerial authority.
• Advanced Python skills and fluency with PyTorch, TensorFlow, Pandas, NumPy, SQL, and cloud platforms such as GCP and BigQuery.
• Experience with organizational-scale data quality and governance, model fine-tuning, multimodal architectures, or advanced RAG systems.

Nice to have

• Advanced knowledge of GCP Agent Platform, BigQuery, GKE, Dataflow, or equivalent infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience designing and productionizing multi-agent systems with frameworks such as LangGraph or Model Context Protocol.
• Experience across multiple HCM product domains and with organization-wide coding standards, foundational libraries, and frameworks.
• Familiarity with responsible AI, fairness, interpretability, privacy-preserving ML, and model risk management.
