TL;DR
Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer (Oil & Gas): Designing and specifying mechanical equipment and systems for oil and gas compression plant projects with an accent on equipment engineering, piping documentation, and industry codes and standards. Focus on performing detailed mechanical analyses, resolving complex equipment and system problems, and supporting fabrication, commissioning, and start-up.

Location: Houston, Texas; onsite five days a week. The role requires the ability to work in the United States and travel internationally. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $128,470–$192,710 per year.

What you will do

  • Provide mechanical engineering for oil and gas compression plant proposals and execution projects.
  • Design and specify pressure vessels, heat exchangers, heaters, pumps, compression systems, valves, piping, and other mechanical equipment.
  • Create, review, and update PFDs, P&IDs, layouts, piping plans, elevations, and isometrics.
  • Prepare equipment requisitions, cost estimates, manhour estimates, schedules, and project deliverables.
  • Participate in design and HAZOP reviews and coordinate technical scope with suppliers, purchasing, fabrication, quality, and customers.
  • Support fabrication, commissioning, start-up, troubleshooting, and field activities while mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of industry experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Familiarity with API, ASME, ANSI, and other codes and standards for mechanical balance-of-plant equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, communication, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work in the United States and travel internationally.
  • Strong written and oral English communication skills required.

Nice to have

  • Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineering License in Texas.
  • Experience with pipe stress analysis, HYSYS, Six Sigma, fabrication facilities, or mechanical equipment.
  • Technical Spanish reading and writing skills.
