Senior Avionics Source Inspector (PCBA)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States. First-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. PT, with a 50-hour workweek and 10 guaranteed overtime hours weekly. Travel to supplier sites is expected approximately 50–80% of the time.

Salary: $31.20–$46.80 USD per hour.

What you will do

• Perform source inspections, audits, and supplier quality and compliance activities at local and remote supplier facilities.
• Conduct in-process and final inspections of PCBAs and post-processing, while supporting in-house manufacturing assembly.
• Inspect solder joints, component placement, polarity, markings, conformal coating, cleanliness, and overall workmanship against drawings, specifications, and IPC-A-610.
• Use microscopes and electronic inspection equipment to identify defects and nonconformances.
• Maintain inspection records and document nonconformances.
• Review purchase orders, certificates of conformance, test reports, material traceability, FAI, shipping documents, blueprints, and bills of materials.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of hands-on PCBA, electronics, SMT, or high-reliability electronic assembly inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience working as an electronics inspector, preferably in a quality function.
• Familiarity with IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 Class 3 electronics assembly and soldering standards.
• Familiarity with staking, underfill, and conformal coating standards, including IPC-610 Class 3 and NASA-STD-8739.1.
• Ability to travel 50–80% of the time and work independently.
• High attention to detail when conducting inspections and ensuring compliance with quality standards and regulations.

Nice to have

• Experience with process development and first-time quality efforts.
• Ability to provide structure and direction in previously undefined areas.
• Familiarity with certificates of conformance, FAI, and source inspection documentation.
• Current or previous certification in NASA-STD-8739.1, IPC-A-610, or J-STD-001.
