Research Assistant /Technician 2

Location: hirify.global Vancouver Campus, Vancouver, BC, Canada; regular travel between hirify.global and VGH, with occasional home visits

Salary: CAD $4,597.80–$5,469.59 per month

What you will do

• Serve as the contact person for the VGH Falls Clinic, complete referrals, and schedule patients with geriatricians.
• Conduct standardized clinical assessments and recruit older adults with chronic conditions and comorbidities for falls-prevention, fracture-prevention, and healthy-aging studies.
• Coordinate randomized controlled trials and cohort studies, develop standard operating procedures, and ensure adherence to research protocols.
• Manage confidential research files, monitor adverse events, verify data quality, and prepare datasets for statistical analysis and publication.
• Communicate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to support referrals and study relationships.
• Supervise and train WorkLearn students and part-time research staff while supporting payroll, budgets, invoices, and research materials.

Requirements

• High school graduation, additional training in a related field, and at least two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• University degree in a relevant discipline and at least two years of experience in a university health research laboratory focused on clinical research.
• Direct, frequent in-person experience working with older adults with cognitive or physical impairment is required.
• Knowledge of age-related changes in physical and cognitive abilities, laboratory maintenance, research protocols, confidentiality, and participant safety.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, independent working ability, teamwork, and deadline management.
• Technical proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, databases, the Internet, REDCap, MS Teams, and Microsoft Office.

Nice to have

• Experience in geriatrics, falls prevention, mobility assessments, or neuropsychological testing with diverse older-adult populations.
