Medical Director, Medical & Scientific Communications

Location: Remote within the United States; candidates must reside in the country where the role is posted. Travel is required for client meetings, advisory boards, congresses, and on-site program support as needed.

Salary: $134,300–$374,300 annualized base pay, with potential incentives, bonuses, and additional benefits.

What you will do

• Provide strategic scientific leadership across client accounts, therapeutic areas, and organizational initiatives.
• Lead, mentor, and develop Medical Directors, Scientific Directors, and medical writers.
• Advise clients and shape medical communication strategies aligned with stakeholder and business needs.
• Oversee scientific quality and strategic integrity across product launches, advisory boards, speaker programs, congresses, publications, and medical education.
• Partner with account management, engagement strategy, project management, editorial, and creative teams to deliver client programs.
• Drive operational excellence, resource allocation, proposal development, client relationship expansion, and talent initiatives.

Requirements

• PhD, PharmD, MD, or an equivalent advanced scientific degree.
• Significant experience in medical affairs, medical communications, the pharmaceutical industry, or a related healthcare environment.
• Proven success leading and developing scientific teams in a fast-paced, client-focused organization.
• Experience overseeing multiple complex projects and scientific portfolios while maintaining high quality standards.
• Strong client management, stakeholder engagement, cross-functional leadership, business acumen, and problem-solving skills.
• Must reside within the United States to be eligible for this remote role.
