Sr Staff Software Resident Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Auburn Hills, United States; on-site customer coordination required

What you will do

• Serve as the primary technical liaison and escalation point for customer issues.
• Analyze complex technical problems, identify root causes, and coordinate practical solutions with engineering teams.
• Manage customer relationships, communicate technical solutions, and conduct customer training and knowledge transfer.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, design, and engineering teams on production issues, 0KM failures, field returns, and product improvements.
• Document customer development issues and meeting minutes, and drive open issues through closure.
• Coordinate customer change-control databases and prototype scheduling, preparation, shipping, tracking, and invoicing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.
• At least 5 years of relevant professional automotive software experience in customer-facing technical support, engineering, customer liaison, or a related role.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and develop resolution plans.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience coordinating multiple technical initiatives across engineering, manufacturing, quality, design, and customer-facing teams.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States is required; employment visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Seven or more years of relevant automotive software experience.
• Automotive, manufacturing, or industrial engineering background, including experience with GM or similar OEM accounts.
• Script development and automation for improving workflow efficiency.
• Knowledge of quality assurance, compliance standards, regulatory requirements, diagnostic and testing tools, and Ethernet communications.
• Experience with process improvement and continuous quality initiatives.
