Software Engineering Co-Op (C++)

Location: East Syracuse, New York, United States; onsite co-op from May through August 2027.

Salary: $20.27–$22.30 per hour, plus a potential sign-on bonus to offset housing expenses for candidates living outside the typical commuting distance.

What you will do

• Develop software for air traffic management systems used at airports.
• Apply computer science, software engineering, or computer engineering education to real-world products.
• Contribute to software development activities for surveillance systems.
• Build practical software engineering skills while making technical contributions to safety-focused products.

Requirements

• Be enrolled in an accredited Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering degree program.
• Have completed at least the sophomore year of study and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
• Have experience with object-oriented design and programming in C++, Python, and/or Java.
• Be familiar with scripting languages and Linux or Unix development environments.
• U.S. citizenship is required; candidates must be eligible for access to classified information and may undergo a government security investigation.
• Pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Nice to have

• Experience with software design patterns and version control tools such as Subversion or Git.
• Familiarity with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Experience with unit testing frameworks such as JUnit, GTest, JTest, cppTest, or googletest.
• Database and SQL experience.
