TL;DR
RF Technology Development Automation Engineering Intern (Summer 2027) (Semiconductors) (Python/Shell/Tcl): Building scripts, internal tools, dashboards, and regression suites that automate RF semiconductor technology-development workflows with an accent on PDKs, design manuals, test structures, verification decks, and test-site data. Focus on translating manual engineering processes into reusable code, improving version control and continuous integration, and validating releases through automated testing.

What you will do

  • Write and maintain Python, Shell, and Tcl scripts for design manual generation, ground-rule validation, PDK builds, releases, and regression checks.
  • Build internal tools and dashboards that consolidate spreadsheets and logs into current project-status views.
  • Automate data extraction and reporting from test-site, design-manual, and verification sources.
  • Develop regression test suites to validate kit and verification-deck changes before release.
  • Improve version-control and continuous-integration practices through repeatable builds, code review, and reusable scripts.
  • Own assigned deliverables, collaborate with engineering stakeholders, document automation workflows, and present project results.

Requirements

  • Be at least a sophomore pursuing a bachelor's, master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Maintain an overall GPA of at least 3.0 and good academic standing.
  • English fluency required for written and verbal communication.
  • Be available to work at least 40 hours per week during the internship.
  • Comfortable writing Python and reading and debugging code written by others.
  • Familiarity with Linux, command-line environments, Git, programming, and breaking down manual processes into automated workflows.

Nice to have

  • Prior internship or co-op, leadership, project management, communication, planning, or organizational experience.
  • Interest in using AI tools and emerging technologies to improve productivity and decision-making.
  • Exposure to semiconductor device physics, VLSI design, layout, CAD tool flows, Tcl, SKILL, Perl, Shell, pandas, dashboards, continuous integration, test automation, or build systems.
  • Curiosity about semiconductor manufacturing and technology development.
