Java Backend Developer

Location: Lisbon, Portugal; hybrid work with onsite attendance once per week

What you will do

• Build and maintain enterprise backend applications with Java and Spring Boot.
• Design microservices and event-driven architectures using Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Develop REST APIs and work with relational and NoSQL databases and data modeling.
• Deploy and operate services using Kubernetes, containers, and cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
• Build CI/CD pipelines and implement unit, integration, and contract testing.
• Use AI-assisted development tools to support code quality, testing, documentation, and productivity.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience as a Java back-end developer.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot, Spring Security, REST APIs, microservices, and event-driven systems.
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, Kubernetes, container technologies, and cloud platforms.
• Experience with CI/CD, DevOps practices, automated testing, Git, and Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
• Tertiary degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Fluent English at B2 level and eligibility to work in Portugal through Portuguese or EU citizenship or a valid work permit; hybrid attendance in Lisbon is required.
