Senior AI Engineer

Location: Bristol, United Kingdom; hybrid working with at least two days per week or 40% of working time at Bristol office sites

Salary: £72,702–£80,780 per year

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and deploy LLM and agentic AI solutions.
• Build and improve Retrieval-Augmented Generation, tool-use, evaluation, optimisation, and monitoring capabilities.
• Apply software engineering, MLOps, and LLMOps practices to deliver reliable, scalable AI solutions.
• Develop solutions across the lifecycle from experimentation and prototyping through production deployment and operational support.
• Integrate AI capabilities into enterprise services and customer journeys with platform engineering teams.
• Support Responsible AI, model governance, security, auditability, risk management, code reviews, and technical knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• Proven experience engineering technology solutions in complex environments and supporting production operations.
• Applied AI/ML and GenAI experience, including RAG, tool use, guardrails, evaluation, and agent-based solutions.
• Experience with conversational AI platforms and customer-facing AI applications.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform, including Vertex AI, BigQuery, and Kubernetes.
• Understanding of CI/CD, version control, software delivery best practices, and the software development lifecycle.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, with awareness of Responsible AI, governance, security, and operational requirements.
