TL;DR
Senior Build Reliability Engineer (Aerospace): Scaling spacecraft hardware production by developing test, manufacturability, inspection, and process-control plans with an accent on hardware reliability, quality, and mission assurance. Focus on leading failure investigations, performing FMEAs, managing compliance evidence, and mitigating vehicle-level production and flight risks.

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. The role requires U.S. work authorization and U.S. person status under ITAR requirements.

Salary: $140,333–$179,314 per year, plus potential stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

hirify.global develops commercial space infrastructure, including in-orbit pharmaceutical processing systems, reentry capsules, heat shields, and satellite buses.

What you will do

  • Partner with design and manufacturing teams to create test, manufacturability, and inspection plans for spacecraft hardware.
  • Contain non-conforming products and guide quality inspectors, technicians, supervisors, and engineers.
  • Lead failure investigations across production, testing, and operations, identifying root causes and reliability improvements.
  • Review hardware designs and acceptance and qualification test campaigns.
  • Perform FMEAs, develop requirements compliance matrices, and ensure test coverage, change management, and manufacturability.
  • Own regulatory deliverables and support vehicle-level mission assurance risk management and mitigation tracking.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, computer science, electrical, manufacturing, mechanical, or materials science engineering.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in aerospace, design, quality, or a related engineering role.
  • Hands-on hardware testing, qualification, troubleshooting, or failure analysis experience.
  • Experience applying process controls in high-volume manufacturing, testing, and quality environments.
  • Experience generating, processing, or analyzing production data.
  • Must be lawfully authorized to work in the United States and qualify as a U.S. person for ITAR access.

Nice to have

  • Full project lifecycle ownership experience.
  • Experience with measurement systems analysis, design of experiments, statistical process control, root cause analysis, corrective action, APQP, metrology, PFMEA, and control plans.
  • Hands-on knowledge of CNC machining, additive manufacturing, casting, welding, fastening, or other special manufacturing processes.
