Senior Backend Engineer (Cybersecurity)

What you will do

• Develop, support, and maintain core hCaptcha tools and services for detecting and verifying user events.
• Collaborate with Security and Machine Learning engineers to build fraud and automation detection capabilities.
• Design and implement low-latency, highly available features with transparent performance insights.
• Write maintainable, documented, tested code meeting open-source quality standards.
• Contribute through code reviews, test automation, DevSecOps, monitoring, security implementations, and on-call participation.
• Interact directly with enterprise customers and startups alongside product, customer success, and sales teams when needed.

Requirements

• 4+ years of hands-on backend engineering experience.
• Proven experience building scalable solutions with JavaScript and/or Go.
• Expertise in Web APIs, HTTP, SSL, and database management.
• Strong background in serverless and containerization architectures.
• Proficiency in network protocols and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with coding agents is assessed during interviews; code reliability and correctness are critical.

Nice to have

• Production experience with Python and Rust or Go.
• Knowledge of security frameworks such as OWASP and CISA, attack vectors, and botnets.
• Experience developing CI/CD pipelines, metrics-driven deployments, and system resource management.
