What you will do

• Contribute to xet-core, an open-source Rust project powering the Hugging Face Hub client and ecosystem.
• Design, build, and operate scalable features in the Xet Storage backend, managing 200PB+ of data.
• Develop low-level, high-performance code for distributed systems and networking infrastructure.
• Collaborate in a high-trust, async environment to build robust systems relied on by scientists and engineers.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience building and scaling distributed systems, storage, or networking infrastructure.
• Proficiency in a low-level systems language, with Rust strongly preferred.
• Proven track record of working independently in high-trust, low-process, and async remote environments.
• Ability to take end-to-end ownership of complex technical challenges in a fast-moving setting.

Nice to have

• Experience designing fault-tolerant, high-performance data storage and retrieval systems.
• Experience operating production systems, including monitoring, alerting, and distributed debugging.
• Familiarity with git internals, cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes), or relational/non-relational databases.
