Counselor (Substance Abuse)

Location: On-site in Wilson, NC, USA

Salary: $24.00–$26.00 per hour plus a bonus structure; pay varies by credentials.

What you will do

• Provide individual and group counseling for patients recovering from drug and alcohol disorders.
• Guide new and returning patients through intake and orientation.
• Develop, update, and maintain individualized treatment plans and patient records.
• Assess patients’ social, educational, economic, and vocational needs.
• Connect patients with community resources, manage referrals, and complete follow-ups.
• Respond compassionately to crisis situations while meeting regulatory and documentation requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, health services, or a related field.
• Must meet state-level requirements and be registered or willing to register with the NCASPPB.
• CADC, CADC-I, LCAS, or LCAS-A credentials are preferred.
• Knowledge of substance abuse treatment, treatment planning, human behavior, and social services is preferred.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and handle confidential and sensitive issues.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment with patients affected by substance use disorders, mental health conditions, infectious diseases, or criminal justice involvement.

Nice to have

• Experience in behavioral health.
• Relevant counseling or addiction-treatment certifications or licenses.
