Cloud Engineer (AWS/Azure/GCP)

Location: Any UK Office Hub: Bristol, London, Manchester, or Swansea; part-time remote working is available.

Salary: £35,000–£45,000 per year

What you will do

• Design and implement secure, scalable, highly available cloud architectures for public sector clients.
• Deploy and manage cloud resources, containers, networking, access controls, and security using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Build automated provisioning, monitoring, scaling, and CI/CD processes.
• Optimise infrastructure performance through load balancing, caching, content delivery, and resource management.
• Design backup and disaster recovery solutions, maintain runbooks, and provide high-tier client support with occasional on-call cover.
• Evaluate cloud services, promote best practices, and collaborate with multidisciplinary delivery teams.

Requirements

• Prior experience in cloud engineering, including building and deploying services in the cloud.
• Knowledge of AWS, Azure, and GCP cloud platforms.
• Hands-on software delivery experience and knowledge of modern software engineering practices.
• Experience with containerisation and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Eligibility for SC security clearance, including five years of continuous UK residency and a five-year employment history or full-time education period.

Nice to have

• Technology consultancy and multidisciplinary team experience.
• Relevant AWS or Azure certifications, cloud partner programme knowledge, and familiarity with well-architected frameworks.
• Knowledge of UK public sector technology guidance, including NCSC’s Cyber Assessment Framework and the Technology Code of Practice.
• Familiarity with Python, Bash, JavaScript, Agile practices, and Test Driven Development.
