Senior Hardware Engineer (Embedded/IoT)

What you will do

• Own hardware products from specification and electronic design through prototyping, validation, industrialization, production, deployment, and post-launch support.
• Design electronic architectures, schematics, PCB layouts, component selections, and systems based on microcontrollers and Single Board Computers such as Raspberry Pi and Khadas.
• Manage BOMs, component sourcing, second-source strategies, obsolescence planning, suppliers, manufacturers, production capacity, and inventory.
• Define validation plans, testing protocols, acceptance criteria, and manufacturing requirements.
• Debug hardware with laboratory equipment, diagnose production and field issues, identify root causes, and implement permanent solutions.
• Create technical and operational documentation, train junior engineers, and act as the technical reference for hardware incidents.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience designing and developing electronic hardware products, including at least 3 years with products that reached mass production and real-world deployment.
• Experience across product specification, electronic design, prototyping, validation, industrialization, production support, and technical decision-making.
• Strong knowledge of digital and analog electronics, embedded Linux and/or Android systems, Raspberry Pi or similar SBCs, communication interfaces, laboratory debugging equipment, and SMD and through-hole soldering.
• Understanding of component selection, BOM management, supply-chain constraints, and European regulations including CE, RoHS, EMC, and Radio Directives.
• Degree or equivalent qualification in Electronics, Telecommunications, Industrial, or Automation Engineering; higher vocational education may be considered with substantially more experience and a strong portfolio.
• Spanish at native or C1 level and English at B2/C1 level are required. Occasional travel and participation in an on-call rotation, including some weekends, are required.

Nice to have

• PCB design with Altium, KiCad, or Eagle and firmware development in C/C++.
• Python scripting, CAD and mechanical enclosure design, 3D printing, or impact-resistant product design.
• Experience with Asian manufacturers, battery-powered devices, power management, RFID/NFC, barcode and QR readers, or thermal printing systems.
• Experience with LoRaWAN, Meshtastic, other IoT communication technologies, or event, ticketing, and access-control hardware.
• Previous experience mentoring junior engineers.
