Controls Engineer (MES)

What you will do

• Support MES-to-PLC integrations during system launches, production ramp-ups, and ongoing manufacturing operations.
• Configure and maintain communications between MES and PLC systems, including MES templates, UDTs, PLC tags, and transaction logic.
• Troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and industrial network issues affecting production execution and MES functionality.
• Maintain real-time production reporting, manufacturing data, part numbers, product structures, and quality validation processes.
• Collaborate with process engineering, MES, operations, supervisors, and production teams to resolve throughput, quality, and system performance issues.
• Support MES enhancements, software updates, system upgrades, audits, root cause investigations, and new production rollouts.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, automation, manufacturing, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell and Siemens PLC and HMI platforms.
• Strong PLC programming, troubleshooting, and diagnostic skills.
• Experience with manufacturing automation and industrial control systems.
• Knowledge of industrial networking and plant-floor communication protocols.
• Ability to analyze complex production and system integration issues and collaborate effectively with engineering and production teams.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting MES in a production environment and integrating ERP, MES, and PLC systems.
• Knowledge of discrete manufacturing, production reporting, manufacturing data collection, and quality management systems.
• Experience with system implementations, upgrades, production launches, continuous improvement, and manufacturing process optimization.
