TL;DR
Process Engineer (Semiconductor Microfabrication): Developing, optimizing, and transferring semiconductor and wafer-level microfabrication processes into repeatable manufacturing with an accent on cleanroom execution, process integration, and yield improvement. Focus on designing experiments, troubleshooting materials and equipment issues, qualifying manufacturing tools, and establishing robust process-control documentation for advanced neural healthcare solutions.

Location: Office-based in Bellaterra and Barcelona; from 2027, Barcelona city only

Company

hirify.global develops graphene-based neuroelectronic interfaces and neural solutions for treating brain disorders.

What you will do

  • Develop, optimize, scale, and transfer semiconductor and microfabrication processes into controlled, repeatable manufacturing.
  • Execute cleanroom and laboratory activities, including wafer processing, sample preparation, inspection, characterization, and data collection.
  • Troubleshoot issues involving materials, equipment, adhesion, patterning, uniformity, contamination, and process integration.
  • Plan and execute experiments and DOEs to establish process windows, improve yield, and reduce variability.
  • Support equipment selection, installation, qualification, process bring-up, and tool acceptance.
  • Coordinate technical activities with foundries, equipment and material suppliers, characterization laboratories, and cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Semiconductor Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on semiconductor manufacturing, microfabrication, MEMS, wafer processing, or related cleanroom experience, including at least 1 year in industry.
  • Fluent English is required because English is the company language.
  • Practical experience with several semiconductor processes, including lithography, thin-film deposition, etching, lift-off, polymer processing, plasma processing, cleaning, or bonding.
  • Experience developing, optimizing, troubleshooting, or transferring processes from development into pilot production or manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of process integration, material compatibility, adhesion, contamination control, multilayer structures, DOE, SPC, FMEA, root-cause analysis, and technical documentation.

Nice to have

  • Experience in semiconductor, MEMS, flexible-electronics, or medical-device manufacturing.
  • Experience with PVD, sputtering, ALD, CVD, laser processing, wafer bonding, flexible substrates, graphene-derived materials, or biocompatible materials.
  • Experience with SEM, AFM, XPS, profilometry, ellipsometry, or optical inspection.
  • Experience with external foundries, contract manufacturers, equipment qualification, FAT, SAT, MES, PLM, or yield-management systems.
  • Experience in ISO 13485, GMP, or another regulated environment.

Culture & Benefits

  • Collaborative environment focused on open communication, knowledge sharing, mutual respect, and diverse perspectives.
  • Work on advanced technologies designed to create meaningful healthcare and societal impact.
  • Flexible compensation scheme and competitive salary based on experience and skills.
  • Private health insurance and a training bonus with access to Udemy.
  • 23 vacation days per year and Christmas week off.
