TL;DR

Product Support Engineer Advanced (Life Sciences Instrumentation): Providing technical leadership for ICP-MS product support, new product introductions, lifecycle projects, and complex field escalations with an accent on design control, quality, reliability, and serviceability. Focus on coordinating cross-functional issue resolution, developing support documentation and training, and using product performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.

Location: Based at the Hachioji office, Japan, with occasional international travel.

What you will do

Provide technical leadership to regional support specialists, channel support teams, and project stakeholders.
Represent Product Support Engineering in new product introduction and product revision projects across the ICP-MS portfolio.
Implement design control, customer requirements traceability, verification and validation, and design-for-supportability activities.
Lead investigations of complex field issues and technical escalations in collaboration with Service, R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations.
Develop field documentation, training materials, technical collateral, support portals, and global product training programs.
Track support metrics, repair costs, reliability trends, and improvement opportunities to increase product quality, serviceability, and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science; an advanced degree is preferred.
Professional engineering or science experience, with experience in quality or reliability engineering strongly preferred.
Experience applying quality tools and practices, ideally in an ISO 9001 environment.
Experience in a life sciences instrumentation organization and with designing or implementing test plans is desirable.
Ability to communicate, collaborate, and lead cross-functional issue resolution, including with customers.
Spoken and written English, excellent communication and computer skills, and strong attention to detail.

Nice to have

Previous experience as a team lead, supervisor, or manager.
Advanced degree in an engineering or science field.
Experience with ISO 9001, quality engineering, reliability engineering, or life sciences instrumentation.
