Lead Software Engineer (Python/Django)

Location: New York City, New York, United States; hybrid workplace.

What you will do

• Lead the engineering team responsible for the Oobeo and EnforcePlus parking platforms.
• Own architecture and technical direction across the Django monolith, React web applications, React Native mobile apps, and cloud services.
• Develop APIs with Django REST Framework and maintain PostgreSQL schemas, queries, and migrations.
• Manage payment, SMS, voice, property-management, and license-plate-recognition integrations.
• Manage AWS and Google Cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, Docker deployments, monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
• Drive AI-paired development with Claude Code, codebase modernization, automated testing, and production hardening.

Requirements

• Expert Python and Django experience, including 5+ years shipping and maintaining Django in production.
• 8+ years of backend engineering experience and demonstrated ownership of a legacy production codebase.
• Strong experience with Django REST Framework, PostgreSQL, React, TypeScript, React Native, Redis, Celery, Docker, AWS, and Google Cloud.
• Experience leading or managing a small engineering team, setting priorities, reviewing code, mentoring engineers, and making architectural decisions.
• Experience with payment gateways, especially Stripe Connect and PaymentIntent, plus awareness of PCI DSS compliance.
• Experience owning CI/CD pipelines and building automated tests with pytest-django or comparable tools.

Nice to have

• Terraform or equivalent Infrastructure as Code experience.
• Experience with WebSockets, Pusher, Twilio, Square Mobile Payments SDK, or Bluetooth printer integrations.
• Hospitality or parking technology experience.
• App Store Connect, Google Play Console, Datadog, or Sentry experience.
• Experience in PE-backed, high-growth, or startup environments.
