Senior Development Scientist (Protein Science)

Location: On-site in Chaska, Minnesota, United States

Salary: $105,000–$115,000 per year, plus eligibility for bonus or incentive pay.

What you will do

• Design, develop, express, purify, and characterize recombinant proteins and other biological reagents for diagnostic applications.
• Independently plan, execute, analyze, and interpret experiments involving protein engineering, expression systems, purification, and biochemical characterization.
• Apply chemistry and biochemistry principles to improve reagent performance, stability, manufacturability, and integration into diagnostic products.
• Support new product design, product optimization, scale-up, technology transfer, and process or product verification and validation.
• Provide technical leadership, maintain regulatory-compliant documentation, and communicate results to cross-functional project teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Protein Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field with 5+ years of experience; or a master’s degree with 3+ years; or a doctoral degree with 0–2 years.
• Strong knowledge of scientific methods, experimental design, laboratory best practices, and data analysis.
• Ability to document materials, methods, data interpretation, and conclusions in compliance with ISO9000 and FDA regulations.
• Ability to solve scientific problems independently, collaborate across functions, and communicate technical information to diverse audiences.
• Ability to work on-site in Chaska, Minnesota, in a regulated environment.

Nice to have

• Two or more years of experience in the diagnostics business.
• Experience with immunoassays or immunoassay development.
• Hands-on experience with protein engineering, recombinant protein design and expression, protein purification, or bacterial and mammalian cell culture systems.
