Senior Electrical Engineer (Renewable Energy)

Location: Christchurch or Twizel, New Zealand; the role is largely office based, with occasional project-site work as required. Other locations may be considered for the right person.

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership within the multidisciplinary Generation engineering team.
• Support existing large hydro and wind generation sites.
• Lead electrical engineering work for capital upgrades, plant breakdowns, compliance obligations, and asset strategies.
• Contribute to maintenance, projects, commissioning, and asset management activities.
• Collaborate with experienced engineers and mentor the next generation of engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• Professional experience in consulting or engineering.
• Experience in maintenance, projects, commissioning, and asset management within power generation, transmission, or heavy electrical industries.
• Understanding of project delivery methodologies, electrical industry compliance, asset management, and health and safety best practices.
• Strong communication, collaboration, influencing, and technical leadership skills.
• Willingness to take ownership of outcomes and contribute beyond the usual area of responsibility.
